Trinidad and Tobago
We support Trinidad and Tobago in the implementation of its National Drug Policy 2021. This accompaniment has focused on strengthening the National Drug Observatory, demand reduction through territorialisation and community treatment, and supply reduction through criminal alternatives.
How do we support the country?
Strengthening the National Drugs Observatory
- 1 national research network to strengthen the national drug information system
- 1 Scientific Committee on Drugs to advise the Trinidad and Tobago National Drug Observatory
Drug demand reduction
- 1 pilot community treatment project in the town of Penal on arts and culture workshops to foster a sense of cultural identity among the migrant population.
- 1 training manual and 1 guide for the design and implementation of territorialisation policies for young people, including migrants, with a gender perspective.
Proportionality and criminal alternatives
- 1 normative proposal for the treatment of minor drug offences under the approach of ‘Commissions for the Dissuasion ‘as a model for the strengthening of penal alternatives in the country’s legal system.
